The Army statement noted that several officers have also been deployed to units directly involved in counterinsurgency and counterterrorism operations, including Operation Fansan Yamma and Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force.

Lt. Gen. Oluyede urged the newly assigned commanders to redouble their commitment to the ongoing fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security, stressing that dedication and professionalism remain crucial.

In a related development, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced the completion of a five-day Civilian Harm Mitigation (CHM) in Air Operations course for its first batch of selected officers.

The training, conducted by the Air Warfare and Doctrine Centre (AWDC), covered International Humanitarian Law, Rules of Engagement, Target Identification, and guidelines for striking sensitive targets.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, emphasized that safeguarding civilian lives is both a professional duty and a moral obligation. He noted that the implementation of the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response Action Plan (CHMR-AP) has already reduced collateral damage incidents, while fostering trust with local communities and improving operational outcomes.

According to him, the new training initiative will further equip Air Force officers with the judgment and tools required to conduct lawful, precise, and humane operations in conflict environments.
